DETEC LSI Awards High Power Microwave Narrowband Threat Systems Subsystems Subcontracts
On 28 September 2007, the Directed Energy Test and Evaluation Capability (DETEC) Lead System Integrator (LSI) awarded the High Power Microwave (HPM) Narrowband Threat Systems (NBTS) Subsystems B and C (NBTS-B/C) subcontracts to Ktech Corporation of Albuquerque, NM. The HPM NBTS-B/C subcontracts have a 24-month and 21-month period of performance respectively with an additional one-year service contract. The awarded amounts are approximately $5.7 Million for NBTS-B and $3.5 Million for NBTS-C.
The HPM NBTS B/C’s primary objective is to provide the directed energy test and evaluation community with narrowband HPM emission sources that mimic known and anticipated opposing-force HPM weapons, as well as other sources of microwave emission, such as radars, to allow testing of Blue force assets for susceptibility to such emissions.
The HPM NBTS-B/C subsystems will operate within the frequencies of 8.0-12.0 GHz and 0.2-0.75 GHz respectively and provide the ability to test, over a range of frequencies, varying pulse repetitions ranges, pulse widths, energy on target, and other parameters of narrowband HPM emission. The subsystems will be transportable and may be relocated between major range and test facilities, set up, and ready to test in a matter of days.
Additional HPM NBTS Capability subsystems are still in source selection.
