DETEC

T-SS Update Document Application

The objective of DETEC is to insure the testing infrastructure (including ranges, methodologies, instrumentation, data/information, and expertise) is in place when DE systems require T&E. The T-SS Update's initial step compiled a list of HPM and HEL DE weapons that could potentially enter testing in the next 12 years. From this list of DE weapon programs, test concepts were developed and reviewed by the Services to identify T&E infrastructure requirements. After identifying the joint T&E requirements and test concepts, the Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) sites each received a survey to document their existing DE T&E capabilities. The T-SS Update then compared the identified requirements against the existing capabilities to identify shortfalls. The T-SS Update identified 47 shortfalls; 39 High (H) priority, 3 Low (L) priority, and 5 Science & Technology (S&T). The DETEC T-SS Update Final Report will also serve as a handbook to help test managers and infrastructure planners identify potential problems specific to DE weapons early enough to implement lead-time solutions prior to T&E.
